About Us
Our Background
Formally one of Auckland’s leading Urban Music and Culture stores, Beat Merchants began supplying the hottest Hip Hop, Reggae, Drum & Bass, Dub step and Funk music some fourteen years ago. In 2007 the business diversified and began selling graffiti art supplies; most notably stocking Ironlak and Krink. These new product lines blossomed among the shops traditional range of music & DJ accessories, and beckoned a new era for the business. In January 2012 we closed the doors on that chapter, sadly music retailers have had ever increasing challenges since the creation of new technologies and alternative formats.
eCommerce & Graffiti art supplies
In March 2012 our eCommerce platform was launched, with it came new customers, beginnings & goals. Since March 2012 our website has converted thousands of visitors into happy returning customers. For the first time our shop was open 24 hours a day, and accessible to anyone! Beat Merchants will continue to increase our constantly evolving Graffiti art supply range, (which now boosts over 500 unique products). Beat Merchants continues to deliver an economic service to our customers in 2017 and beyond. The customer rules at Beat Merchants, and we aim to provide an outstanding experience for every Music enthusiast or individual (like us) with an immense passion for urban culture.
Our People
Jason Howson has owned and operated Beat Merchants since 2007. Jason’s love of urban culture, be it music, art or fashion has propelled Beat Merchants to operate within a network of like minded individuals & organizations from around the world, bringing the best products and artists from around the globe to New Zealand’s shores. He is most likely the guy to pick up the phone when you call, where your questions or concerns will be gladly answered to the best of our capability.
